SoCreate Feature Highlight: Adding a Location in SoCreate
In traditional screenwriting, locations can feel static and lifeless. It’s just a name on a page.
But with SoCreate, you can breathe life into your locations with imagery, making them an integral part of your story.
Our Location feature allows you to add locations in a visually engaging way, providing context and depth to your scenes as you write. You can visualize the setting, making it easier to imagine your story as it unfolds.

SoCreate Weekly Writing Challenge
Prepare to unleash your creativity with SoCreate's weekly writing challenges. Each week, we present a new and exciting prompt to stretch your writing muscles. Start a weekly writing habit with SoCreate’s prompts!
Location: INT – Fancy Restaurant – Night
Characters: Dianna; Bill
Scene Description: A crowded restaurant with chandeliers, white tablecloths, and red carpet. Dianna (73) and Bill (75) sit across from each other.
Prompt: Dianna and Bill are on a first date, and nothing seems to be going right. Write a scene where something goes terribly wrong for each of them while they attempt to order dinner with their server.
Extra Credit: Try using SoCreate's Dialogue Direction feature to specify how your characters deliver their lines of dialogue. For example, Dianna might be frustrated as she says something, and Bill might start crying. Include these expressions in Dialogue Direction and watch your character's faces change to express the sentiment!
Within a Dialogue Stream Item, just find the icon that looks like a person and an arrow. Click this to add direction to your character’s line. If an applicable emotion exists in SoCreate, your character’s face will change to match your direction! As you’d expect in an industry-standard script, Dialogue Direction appears as parentheses beneath a character’s name when you export your SoCreate story to the traditional screenplay format.
